General Story
Matthias I was the King of Hungary and Croatia who established the Black Army of Hungary. In order to keep justice, he reduced the power of the aristocracy and promoted professions in which talent was chosen on the basis of ability rather than social status. As the embodiment of justice, Matthias was a popular hero among Hungarian and Slovak people so, after his death, the saying was circulated: “Matthias is dead—justice is lost.”

In 1485, after the fierce battle, the army with black armor that swept through Bohemia, Czech, and many other strong enemies broke through Vienna, the hinterland of Eastern Europe, like a sharp knife.
Austria lost half of its territory in a war, and this formidable black army belonged to the Hungarian emperor, the Raven King, Matthias I.
As a young successor, Matthias I is the master of six languages and the doer who put the light of the Renaissance on Hungary. The black Army is one of his masterpieces which was the first truly non-conscription standing army in Europe since the Roman Empire. With 30,000 troops, it was equipped with military muskets beyond its era, and it defeated Ottoman Empire in the Battle of Bradfield in 1479.
In 1485, after being crowned king of Croatia and Bohemia, Matthias I became lord of the Hungarian-Austrian kingdom. He created the territory of Eastern Europe in the second half of the 15th century and wrote a glary page in world history with his extraordinary talents.
