She was the empress of Justinian emperor Justinian I of the Byzantine Empire and, like her husband, was canonized as a “saint” by the Orthodox Church.

After becoming queen, Theodora's talents gradually showed in the process of ruling. She was a great leader and often offered wonderful advice to her husband Justinian. During the Nika riots in 532, she persevered tenaciously with her amazing willpower and unyielding faith. Finally, with her help, the Justinian dynasty was saved.
